PACS in Indonesia
PACS faculty member Duane Ruth-Heffelbower was on leave to Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from August 1, 1999 to December 11, 2001. He resumed at PACS in January 2002. At Duta Wacana he was part of the Institute for Research and Educational Innovation (Lembaga Penelitian Inovasi Pendidikan) under an appointment from Mennonite Central Committee. The particular assignment is to the Center for the Study and Promotion of Peace (Pusat Studi dan Pengembangan Perdamaian) where he helped develop the capacity of Duta Wacana to provide education, training and intervention services in the area of conflict management and peacemaking. The PSPP team provided training or intervention services to over 1,000 individuals from dozens of different tribes and islands in the archipelago while Duane was with them. Duane's wife Clare Ann served as the Program Director/Country Representative for MCC Indonesia. Duane also maintains a web scrapbook of life in Indonesia.
